Double-weighted statement

This submission represents ten years' research and is underpinned by the use of a wide range of archives (English, French, Italian, and German). Particularly challenging was the analyses of the French side of the conflict, military organisation based on unpublished material, and the literary and artistic works which contributed to the cultural dimension of the book. However, these were vital tasks for it allowed the study to achieve its overarching conclusion that the Anglo-French war of the 1540s was seminal in the development of English military experience and a major problem for France in its geopolitical implications.
