The flow phenomenon in bends is very complicated and very limited data have been reported in the literature. This paper resulting from EPSRC funded work (EP/E004644/1) investigated the air/silicone oil flows around a 90° bend using a novel wire mesh sensor. The success of this work attracted further EPSRC support (EP/F016050/1).
