Additional information
This paper presents a quantitative analysis of specific forces that the ischemic boundary imposes on cardiac re-entry, and explains the factors leading to fatal ischemia-reperfusion arrhythmias. The work was collaborative between Liverpool (Biktashev, Biktasheva) and the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, George Washington University (http://smhs.gwu.edu), USA (Sarvazyan). The underpinning work was supported by EPSRC responsive mode research grant EP/D074789/1 (Biktasheva, Biktashev), EPSRC HPC grant EP/I029664/1 (Biktashev, Biktasheva), and NIH (USA) grants HL095828, HL076722 (Sarvazyan).
