Additional information

Controller design directly by an inverse nonlinear system identification method was demonstrated for engine fuelling as example of a significant engineering control challenge. This was presented as the Guest Invited Keynote Conference Lecture, fully funded by the State Key Engine Laboratories Tianjin, China (Shenton2-1.pdf) at the First International Advanced Engine Control Symposium. Investigation of the methodology formed the basis of the £400k (£480k FEC) TSB, CREO research project (Project: 85438 Funding Record: 85440 ) supported by Ford, Jaguar-Land-Rover and Johnson-Matthey. Subsequent work extended the method to fuel optimal systems demonstrated on industrially validated models provided by Ford in CREO (Shenton2-2.pdf).
