Classical analysis is combined with finite elements for the vibration of a structure traversed by a moving high-speed oscillator, including separation and re-attachment with impact, such as a high-speed train crossing a bridge. Follow-on work includes an invited tutorial-and-review paper in Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing (Evidence file: Ouyang1-1) and EPSRC grant EP/H022287/1 on active vibration control of moving-load problems (Evidence file: Ouyang1-2).
