Double-weighted statement

Venice’s Most Loyal City is based on extensive research in the archives of Brescia, Venice, and other Italian cities and supplemented by material printed in Italy during the period c. 1470 to c. 1535. A prolonged series of periods of investigation in the archives (2002-08) enabled the deep and broad sampling of diverse archival material necessary for the reconstruction of outlines of the development of Brescian civic identity during the first century of the city’s subjection to Venice.
