Additional information

Accurate and reproducible online speciation analysis was a major breakthrough; this paper shows how useful information can be gained with this novel technique. While adoption of the technique for routine analyses hinges on cheaper, advanced analytical instruments becoming available, this paper stimulates this development. Experts at Public Health England (contact: Sohel Saikat and Alison Gowers, email: Sohel.Saikat@phe.gov.uk and Alison.Gowers@phe.gov.uk) are taking a special interest in the work, which is expected to influence future UK policy relating to environmental risk assessment.
