Additional information

<22>This paper presented a gene regulatory model that adaptively generates patterns according to environmental inputs and self-organise robots to form the pattern, which is the first of its kind. This is part of my work on morphogenetic robotics (MR), a new subfield of developmental robotics I put forward in 2010. MR has received increasing attention from the community, partly indicated by five invited Keynotes on MR I delivered at international conferences since 2010. I was invited to write a dialog in the IEEE Autonomous Mental Development Newsletter that triggered warm discussions on developmental robotics participated by eminent researchers.
