Additional information

The work carried out in this paper is part of ongoing research funded and supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) in collaboration with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). The research work under JSPS/NSERC grant resulted in 12 papers (7 journals and 5 conferences). This paper delivers a strong base of understanding of the delamination propagation in composites materials using a novel FE model. The code written in this paper has been implemented in LS-DYNA software and it is now under consideration to be formally commercialised as a new tool in LS-DYNA. This paper has been extensively cited as a main reference in this subject.
