Additional information

Direct and converse magneto-electric effects were shown in laminar composite materials. The resulting devices, demonstrated here to show reciprocal effects, can be used not only as energy harvesters but also as emitters for communication purposes. A later development of this work, (PhD Thesis C. Popov 2007) using nano-material composites allowed device fabrication in any shape, leading to a new deposition technique (funded by EPSRC Smart Micro-Systems Grant EP/H03014X/1-£733k).
