Double-weighted statement

This single-authored monograph (c. 170,000 words with c. 160 illustrations doi:10.5284/1017082) and on-line resource (with five databases and ArcIMS maps) constitute the main results from a five-year project (2001-06), followed by a further five-year writing-up and resource-preparation period that occupied c. 80% of the REF period. The project included inter- and intra-site analyses of some 30,000 artefacts from five archaeological sites in Roman Germany. Besides using a range of techniques for capturing legacy data for intra-site GIS-type analyses and presentation, it developed processes for characterising Roman artefacts and analysing socio-spatial practices in Roman military communities.
