Additional information

Robustness is critical in transmit antenna beamforming design. This work applied the probabilistic constraint to multi-user systems. It is the first work that takes realistic channel information into account by incorporating advanced optimization tools. The superior performance of this method demonstrates the power of stochastic optimization based designs. The work has stimulated the extension to accommodate the statistical distribution of the noise, leading to an IEEE International Conference on Communications (Sydney) paper (DoI:10.1109/ICC.2012.6363910). This probabilistic constraint approach has led to collaboration with Southeast University, China. This work has been extended further by researchers in China (DoI:10.1002/wcm.2375) and Iran (DoI:10.1109/WCL.2013.050613.130105).
