English abstract
This is a study and annotated translation into Italian of the Manichaean scroll at the National Library in Beijing (Dunhuang ms. bei 8570), better known in Western scholarship as ‘Traité Pelliot’. The text has long been seen as the Chinese rendition (probably dating from the 9th c.) of a Manichaean treatise of dogmatics, and more recently W. Sundermann identified it as a counterpart to the Parthian Sermon of the Light-Nous. The present study reveals the composite nature of the Chinese document, and its original elaboration of different strands of Manichaean doctrine and myth.
