In this paper the authors present, for the first time, a detailed analysis of the conventional current-feedback-operational-amplifier (CFOA). They use this analysis to identify the key performance parameters of the CFOA and the mechanisms primarily responsible for determining their values. Building further on these results, two novel CFOA designs are presented that provide significantly improved performance. This is an important paper as it provides a clear analytical foundation and methodology that can be applied in integrated circuit and system design and confirms the value of good analogue circuit design to significantly enhance the performance of the CFOA.
