Battlefield Archaeology of the English Civil War
This book is a significant and complex piece of interdisciplinary research which deploys traditional archaeological data collection and interpretation techniques with novel approaches. A key feature of the work is the methodological section which traces and defines battlefield archaeology as a sub-discipline and then applies the methodology in a major case study of the material found at Edge Hill. The collection of the data was a major enterprise and its analysis and presentation has required a range of techniques including mapping, scientific analysis of artefacts and historical sources to provide a major re-interpretation of the battle and its site.
