The output of this new patterning technique research was used, by the National Physical Laboratory, to help develop a micro-coordinate measurement probe (markys.cain@npl.co.uk), which is now being developed as a commercial product. Applications have led to scale-up research (including funding from National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 50905027) and Specialized Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education of China (No. 20090041120041). The work was funded by EPSRC (GR/84156/01) and European Commission (MIND [Multifunctional & Integrated Piezoelectric Device] FP6-NMP 515757).
