This paper represents the first reported application of the Weibayes method to the statistical treatment of a limited data set of failures in mechanical face seals. This new methodology is now employed by AESSEAL, a UK seal manufacturer, in their product design process, leading to reduced seal failures of the products in use. (Contact Joel.Ojile@aesseal.co.uk).
