Significance of output:

This paper demonstrates for the first time the fundamental linkages between molecular composition, morphology and electrical and mechanical properties in blends of propylene-based homopolymer and copolymer systems. The results directly facilitated the SUSCABLE project (TS/G000239/1: total value £659,213, g.stevens@gnosysgroup.com), which led to three patents (WO/2012/044523; ROC application 100135253; U.S. application 61/617,347), further industrially funded projects (total value ~£900,000; jens.rocks@ch.abb.com, jfreestone@generalcable.com) and our involvement in the dielectrics theme of the EPSRC Grand Challenge project EP/I031707/1 (£4,108,875, Soton funding, £330,523).
