Significance of output:

This paper presents a credit card sized sensor system powered by a planar energy harvester for use in aeronautical applications. The thin profile of the system enables it to be embedded in a composites structure. Lab based testing of the harvester and circuit functionality demonstrates the system can be powered solely by the energy harvested from vibrations. The system was developed as part of an EU project in collaboration with industrial partners and is currently being evaluated by Goodrich (GAS-CDG2-Triade-project@goodrich.com) with a view to possible deployment by the industry.
