Significance of output:

This paper describes the development and implementation of a solely vibration-powered control system that, for the first time, autonomously adapts the resonant frequency of an electromagnetic vibration-based energy harvester to the ambient vibration frequency. It demonstrates, experimentally, the practicality of powering a complete tuneable energy harvesting system from a low level of vibration and the two tuning strategies presented in the paper are entirely general. A novel method of protecting against excessive vibration is also described and implemented. 622 downloads since Sept 2010 (30 months).
