Key to the development of the world first monolithically integrated source that is the base of a potential low cost, low energy consumption system. Led to 2 further publications (optics express, vol 19, page 20048 and Journal of Lightwave technology, vol. 29, page 2229). Led to an invited contribution in one of the leading journals in the area; Journal of Lightwave Technology (invitation received in July 2013, to be published in early 2014). Led to further funding in the area of photonic integration (EU, IPHOBAC-NG, £3.1M Renaud PI, EPSRC-Cambridge CSIC, miniaturised BOTDR sensor, Renaud PI, £370k, EPSRC EP/J017671/1, £6.6 million).
