Additional information

The work presented a new type of transflective display device, important for low energy mobile displays, which can operate in high ambient light as well as with back lighting. The programmes were developed to model patterned electrodes and to test issues of importance in the manufacture of displays. Similar structures were modelled for a number of consultancies and student projects (total £32k) with companies manufacturing and developing different types of display. (Companies Sharp Labs Europe (Ben Broughton), Merck (R. Tuffin), Thomas Swan Analytics (Melanie Holmes), BAe (Jon Freeman), Qioptiq (H. Swygart)).
