Additional information

<12>To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this approach using domain knowledge and semantic technologies, specifically ontological modelling, representation and inference, is a new paradigm that addresses the current problems of “cold-start”, lack of applicability and scalability to enable real-time continuous activity recognition for real world scenarios. The results of the work, in particular the semantic context modelling and activity inference mechanisms, have been used as key technological enablers for the successful EU AAL PIA research proposal (Ref:AAL-2012-5-033).
