Double-weighted statement

This monograph of approximately 175,000 words entailed extensive research in archives in the UK, Italy, US, and New Zealand, to recover complex material related to Keats family history and the poet’s family and childhood. The biography grew from a long period of data collection over 18 years (1993-2011) relating to Keats and history, the culture of dissent, and Leigh Hunt. The critical insights and arguments that have arisen from this protracted and extensive research show for the first time how Keats’s poetry revisited and reimagined - in hitherto unsuspected ways - experiences, places, and anniversaries associated with his earliest childhood.
