Additional information

This publication resulted from a collaboration between Boutelle's group (PhD students Hashemi, Bhatia) and the Max Planck Institute for Neurophysiology, Cologne. Featured on journal cover. Identified as being of ‘outstanding interest’ in a Current Opinion in Critical Care review (2009;15:110-117). Led directly to monitoring by rapid sampling microdialysis of brain injury patients at King’s College Hospital London, St Mary’s Hospital London, Cologne University Hospital, and Charité Hospital Berlin. Stimulated lecture invitations at Pittcon 2010 in Florida and the 11th Societe des Neurosciences colloquium in Lyon (2013). Helped Hashemi obtain tenure-track professorship in USA and Bhatia become consultant neurosurgeon.
