Additional information

This article, which aims to understand and reduce postoperative complications after liver transplantation, represents one of the first mechanical models of blood flow in the microvessels of the liver. It led to a collaboration with a group from Ghent, resulting in a publication in which we extended the model (Debbaut et al. 2012, Comput Method Biomec), and a further collaboration with researchers across Europe (in Germany, France, Turkey, Belgium, Italy). In another follow up study, we combined a model of interstitial flow to investigate ascites (Siggers et al. 2013, Biomech Model Mechan).
