Additional information

First study to relate stent-induced artery wall stress to intimal hyperplasia (re-narrowing of the vessel) through direct comparison of two stent designs. It involved a collaboration with a cardiologist and a pathologist. Funded by a $1.5m USA NIH grant (R01 EB000115). Cited in both engineering and clinical journals by labs from USA and Europe. Developed new microCT histology techniques to quantify intimal thickening. Results supported development of a stent design that has been patented (1653885 DE/FR/GB) and has received $100k in USA NIH start-up funding (R43 HL108512) to develop deployable prototypes.
