Additional information

Excitatory and inhibitory balance is a crucial property of the brain, because it is the only way of avoiding epileptic regimes. We showed that this balance can be maintained by inhibitory plasticity. The work formed the basis for two Bernstein Awards (to Sprekeler and Vogels - €1.25M each) and a Henry Dale Fellowship of the Wellcome Trust (to Vogels). It was recommended as “a must read” by the Faculty of 1000 (http://f1000.com/717958055). This paper led to 3 invited talks in international conferences (e.g. MONA, Hawaii, 2013).
