Double-weighted statement

Research for this wide-ranging comparative study, which combines book history, genre study and theoretical critique, involved extensive work on early printed editions of C18th and C19th literature in ten research libraries in the UK and USA. The methodology required detailed attention to paratextual features (in some cases across multiple editions) and reception history, as well as interpretation of primary and secondary works in British, French and German literature. It is has been recognised in reviews as an unusually comprehensive study of Romantic poetry, which reflects many years’ work.
