Compact broadband antennas are highly desirable for modern communication devices operating at multiple frequency bands and using several antennas. This paper reports the design of a broadband dielectric resonator antenna using a bowtie design. It offers the communication industry a compact antenna with extremely wide bandwidth. The technology developed has been communicated to both Sony Ericsson and TDK (contact details available) for practical applications and product development. The work also has an impact in the design of compact wide band antennas for radar applications (doi:10.4236/jemaa.2012.41002).
