The contribution of the paper is to provide a signal-processing technique to solve the problem of peak-to-average power ratio in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless systems. The technique eliminates the need for external signals which may require extra side information. The second author, who initially worked for DOCOMO in Shanghai, established a spin-out company (contact details available) to build on the work. The research has also informed work in Korea (DOI: 10.1109/TSP.2012.2191779) and China (DOI: 10.1109/TSP.2011.2109955).
