Additional information

Paper demonstrates technique that may be used to isolate role of memory in satiety (the feeling of satisfaction after eating), which is one of key processes that must be understood in order to control obesity. Experiment is designed around mechatronics system for real-time manipulation of amount of soup consumed by experimental subjects based on amount consumed and rate of consumption. Burn's role was experimental-design and manufacture of mechatronic system. This manipulation exposes, for first time, important independent contribution of memory processes to satiety.
