Additional information

Paper explains how to select data-rate in a wireless standard to maximise video quality, as opposed to data capacity. High-throughput modulation and code schemes tend to suffer from errors at lower signal-to-noise ratios. To overcome problem, links normally "adapt" by choosing lower-throughput modulation and coding schemes. Paper proposes new algorithm to adapt link based on video-distortion criteria. Elements of work are included in granted patents (e.g. WO2011151647A2, US20130263201A1) assigned to ProVision [contact: VP Business Development]. ProVision have taken concepts of link adaptation and applied it in their wireless HDMI products.
