Maintaining high data-rates in 4G mobile communications requires feedback of channel conditions from receiver to transmitter. Paper is one of first to undertake measurements to quantify issues such as latency on fed-back data. Data was shared with industrial sponsors (BT, Fujitsu, Nortel, Samsung & Toshiba) some of whom filed patents prior to publication (e.g. US20090225687), employed two of the co-authors (Webb and Hunukumbure), as well as using data for standardisation inputs to 806.16/WiMax [contact: Manager of Wireless Technologies Group, Fujitsu]. BT used data / analysis as Key Performance Indicators when establishing BT Malaysia [contact: Project Manager, Research and Innovation].
