Additional information

Decoherence is the main obstacle to realizing a quantum computer. This paper – the culmination of several years research – demonstrated an improvement of more than two orders of magnitude in the coherence time of a two-spin qubit, resulting in the longest T2* value reported for self-assembled quantum dots. It has led to six invited talks at international symposia (including the 2013 Rank Prize Symposium on “Semiconductor Nano-photonics for Quantum Information Science”). Furthermore, the results form the basis of the current research plan of Dr Elzerman, for which he received a five-year £50k Royal Society – Wolfson Research Merit Award.
