Additional information

This paper builds on an OFC(2012) postdeadline paper (postdeadline papers at OFC require a significantly higher novelty and have an acceptance 1:3) and demonstrates that by using DSP to compensate for laser imperfections it is possible to use a low cost semiconductor tunable laser (rather than a more costly tunable low linewidth laser), paving the way for a low cost 10Gbit/s access networks. This work part of a Piano+/TSB project with Oclaro and Nokia Siemens, has led to an invited paper for OFC’2014 and the paper has already been downloaded over 500 times in IEEEXplore since publication in January 2013.
