Additional information
Harmonic suppression of band pass filters was developed for conventional copper filters, extending the usefulness of the technique from superconducting filters to the mass market. Three harmonics can be attenuated, greatly increasing the pass band, with very little increase in filter size and with the additional cost and complexity of only two resistors among four resonators. Spurious responses are a fundamental limitation for distributed element filters, that is, most microwave filters, and this technique can potentially be adapted for a very wide range of such devices.
