Additional information

The objective is to increase the upper stop-band width of a superconducting spiral filters and thereby reduce interference in communications systems or radio telescopes. A spurious response was suppressed, using for the first time, additional deliberately lossy, resonators. They introduce very little loss in the main pass band. Additional innovations are that they are attached to the box roof, and are arranged to avoid the tuning screws, so they require no additional space. Furthermore, the filter efficiently combines normal metal and superconducting resonators without increasing pass band loss.
