Additional information

This paper investigated the compatibility issues of Internet Protocol (IP) packet frames with the coherent optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) data framing within the communication networks. A new power efficient network node architecture dealing with IP extraction and code assignment mapping scheme has been proposed and studied in terms of bit-error rate and measured packet loss. The coherent binary phase shift keying modulation scheme has been employed for the OCDMA transceiver design. This research is a break-through in the area of IP-over-OCDMA networks potentially supporting future optical high capacity LANs and/or fibre to the home infrastructure.
