Additional information

This paper presents the first ever method in the world for the production of probabilistic future weather years on an hourly timescale of use to the construction industry. The Technology Strategy board now strongly recommend the use of the work and were used by 40 out of 48 recent Technology Strategy Board Design for Future Climate research projects (Mark Wray, Mark.Wray@tsb.gov.uk) influencing the design decisions and climate change adaptation plans of over £3 billion worth of building projects across the UK. The research has also influenced the HM Government Low Carbon Action Plan ‘Government Response to the Low Carbon Construction Innovation and Growth Team Report’ June 2011. This paper also won the Napier Shaw bronze medal for best paper on a research topic (CIBSE Journal November 2012).
