Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization
The paper extends particle swarm optimization to an adaptive form, opening a new line of research that has been very highly cited and widely adopted and applied. Diverse examples of its uptake are in maglev transportation (10.1109/TIE.2010.2046004), biomedical plasmonics (10.1109/CEC.2011.5949903) and movie restoration (10.1109/ICCSP.2011.5739335). The methodology has led to an R&D grant from overseas industry (Dehong Tech, China, www.dehongtech.com) and to three joint patents granted in China (CN 201120379480.9, CN 201120379438.7, CN 201120404569.6). In January and March 2012, this paper was acknowledged by Web of Knowledge 'Essential Science Indicators' in Engineering.
