A general magnetic-energy-based torque estimator: Validation via a permanent-magnet motor drive
This paper describes a new on-line test method that reduces the measurement and calculation times of permanent-magnet motor current-flux linkage loops and motor torque, from the order of 1 hour to less than 10 seconds through a novel voltage estimation technique. This work was first presented at the 41st IEEE IAS Conference where it was awarded 3rd prize by the Industrial Drives Committee. This work provided key validation data for University of Glasgow SPEED Consortium motor design software used by over a 1000 engineers in industry worldwide (e.g. WEG Brazil, Dr C Martins, carlosm@weg.net, Goodrich, Dr T Sawata, tadashi.sawata@goodrich.com).
