Additional information

This paper developed a new reduced integrated element with several remedies to alleviate locking pathologies such as the volumetric, the Poisson and the transverse shear locking.

The research developments in this paper were recognised by its inclusion in the well-known finite element software from MSC Software Corporation in the MSC Marc (element 185) and MSC Nastran finite element codes.
