Additional information

This is the first paper to implement agent-based systems to provide “negotiated” outcomes to the problem of optimizing biometric identification systems which deploy multimodal data processing. The improved performance and high degree of flexibility afforded by this approach lay the first foundations of a fundamentally new approach to this type of application domain, supporting the development of new and important biometrics-related implementation platforms. The work has informed specific work carried out for HMGCC, improving their understanding of their operational environment and informing their thinking about approaches to consider in developing their current research portfolio (Contact Dr.B.Hughes, brynh@hmgcc.gsi.gov.uk).
