Additional information

<20>Location-aware systems can now benefit from increasingly widespread access to compass bearing inputs, so that users can point at content and interact with it. This paper shows how uncertainty due to sensor noise and muscle tremor can be incorporated into the feedback to simplify and smooth the user experience. It has immediate applicability in current mobile phone systems, and has fed into published work with Nokia. Personal and Ubiquitous computing is the most significant journal in the mobile interaction design area and this paper has been strongly cited since publication.
