Additional information

<06>IC is one of the top-visibility venues of the field. This work breaks new ground in describing the implementation and deployment of a wireless mesh network to provide Internet connectivity in a rural village in the North of England, where there was no broadband coverage at the time. This work had major societal impact since it contributed in bridging the digital divide and enabled the creation of digital businesses and e-commerce in a rural and isolated area. The work has since picked significantly on citations and has been the precursor of various follow-up funded initiatives (e.g., B4RN, RuralConnect Living Lab).
