Additional information

This paper presents a novel and powerful optimisation methodology (HCPSO) developed specifically for complex optimisation problems such as ship design as it utilises faster search and evaluation characteristics while avoiding stagnations with the innovative e-disturbance technique. The approach reduces the optimisation time by 35%-60% while finding more accurate solutions. Extension of this work formed a chapter in a book by invitation (rchiong@swinburne.edu.my, Variants of Evolutionary Algorithms for Real-World Applications: ISBN 978-3-642-23423-1) and a journal (H Cui et al, CAD, Vo: 44, Issue 3,pp 186-195). The model was applied to development of route optimisation in EPSRC project (Low Carbon Shipping EP/H020004/1).
