Power control of control frames in IEEE 802.11 networks
<05>This work relates to the EPSRC-funded SUAAVE (Sensing Unmanned Autonomous Aerial Vehicles, EP/F06358X/1) for power-aware communications in collaboration with UCL and Oxford. The area of energy management is key to progressing designs for future communications in Smart Cities, IoT and M2M, with advances in Gigabit 802.11 systems. Consequently, our power control algorithms have fed into a Cloud test-bed work-plan for the IEEE InterCloud Initiative (http://www.intercloudtestbed.org/), of which Ulster is a Founding Partner (October 2013) to contribute to IEEE Cloud Standards. A new PhD studentship in this area jointly with Dr Louise Krug at BT Labs is currently being negotiated.
