The Continuous Inverse Class-F Mode With Resistive Second-Harmonic Impedance
This is an extension of the continuous mode power amplifier theory utilising RF waveform measurements, also reported by same authors. This research was funded by Freescale Ltd (under OPERA-NET) and EPSRC (Grant EP/F033702/1). It had an important technical impact in the RF Power Amplifier industry, demonstrating average power efficiencies of 70% for RF power amplifiers over a relative frequency bandwidth of more than 60%. This is evidenced for its commercial exploitation, e.g. by the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany (ruediger.quay@iaf.fraunhofer.de). Such types of investigations (through measurements) led to a collaboration with National Instruments (marc.vanden.bossche@ni.com), co-funding staff in the Unit (£45k).
