Additional information

Heat exchanger network synthesis is a problem that has long been a focus of research. However, the vast majority of tools have not addressed the complexity of design introduced by stream splitting in the design of the actual network of heat exchangers. The resulting software tool, part of the Jacaranda system for automated process design, has been made available. As a result of this paper, I was invited to be on the organising committee of the 2011 Congress of Evolutionary Computation (CEC2011) and an invited speaker at the CREST Open Workshop (COW13).
